Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
Item upgrades allow players to raise the level of equippable items like weapons, armor, and trinkets above a certain threshold. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.

Rerolling

They can be salvaged by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.
Depending on the kind of item, upgrading an item can cost Dilithium or gold. Some upgrades also require Flightstones or crests. The amount of Flightstones and Crests needed to upgrade an item is determined by the level of the item. Blizzard also sets a maximum level for upgrades. Upgrades to the highest level are expensive especially when upgrading PvE equipment.
Upgrades can also alter the weapon's ammunition or damage die size. They can also alter the weapon's special properties, such as its unwieldy or operational property, or its hand requirement. Certain upgrades can alter the appearance of a weapon.
