Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from earlier versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will allow the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available is contingent on the item's base type. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not get to its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will have less chance of success.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to a high degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can significantly enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. item upgrades could be good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also includes various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling could provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character and allows them to climb higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in various ways. item upgrading can be of various sizes, contain none at all, or contain a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.
There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often don't improve the quality of the item's stats when compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have lots of armor pieces or weapons.
Some set items are upgraded for their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. The item will be displayed with its attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their power. It will also boost the defense of armor with an updated appearance.
