World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all the leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock is possible using the level of the item.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value, and also that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This is not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

In  item upgrader  to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat in the range, unless they are an exclusive item or a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. As with the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any skill that causes damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
